Posters for Fall 22 and Spring 23

4/23/18:

The laser cutter has made the outline of the new cut we’re making. We just have to wait for school to be over to cut it out. CUT.

4/17/18: Update!

I think everything’s going great! Waiting on Joe to use our brand new laser cutter to cut out a sketch of a new ticker I made. The sketch of the ricker has longer legs and will probably work better. Time will tell. Time tells all.

3/19/18: Clock 5

Luckily, the pendulum is done, and the clock works. However, the problem is that the ticker sometimes skips a spot on the gear and the pendulum slows down. This will hopefully be fixed soon. I believe that the problem is in the fact that the pendulum isn’t properly adjusted, and therefore cannot move the ticker at the right pace. When it does, the ticker should push back at the pendulum to keep it moving at a constant rate.

2/27/18: Clock 4

I’m proud to say that gear plates all fit smoothly! All that’s left to do is set up the pendulum and the clock is done.

1/29/18: General Update

Christ, time flies! I’ve finished the base plate for the clock, so all I need to do now is sand down the gear plates so they can fit on smoothly, and adjust the pendulum, and it’s all done! The Twitter analytics sheet works well, but I have to use a different formula for the averages than I thought, so that might take a little more work than previously expected. The goal now is to work a little more on the Instagram page. While Ben is working on that right now, it doesn’t mean that Grace and I can’t help out too.

1/4/18: Review

Kekeke… Happy New Year! I hope you all had a good 2017 and a better 2018. Now that I’m back and it’s a new year, I’m gonna make an excel page for the twitter, so I can manage the likes and hits even better than before. The clock will be finished before spring break!

12/12/17: Clock 3

All delicate pieces are all finished. Everything has been built, and now I have the task of preparing the base for all of the gears and the pendulum to go on. Thankfully, this process will go a lot faster, as I don’t have to wait for pieces to dry before I put the next one on the clamp. However, I won’t be able to post over break. Have a happy holiday!

11/28/17: General Update #2

So much work has gotten done! Twitter is going well, views steadily increasing. The clock is also going well, and I’ve been working on my woodworking and carving skill. Sorry I haven’t updated in a while though!

10/10/17: General Update

So everything seems to be running very smoothly regarding this year in WISRD. While I apologize for not posting super constantly, there has been a lot of work to be done. In this past month, the Twitter analytics show that the impressions have increased by 2000 viewers, which is a substantial amount. The clock is also making solid progress, with all the sanding done and we are currently in the process of looking for a good stain for the wood. I’m also the new head for social media advancement and production, which is a nice bonus. I’m looking to expand from Twitter analytics to Twitter ads, Instagram, create a subreddit and maybe even advertising on science websites. Looking forward to all I have this year!

9/18/17: Clock 2

I’ve gotten to a fairly good start! I’m done with all of the larger pieces and should be starting on the more delicate ones next class. I’ve run over all the mistakes I made last time in my head and am making sure to avoid them. This task will be very tedious  I also need to keep on top of my Twitter analytics, which I’ll be checking up on at the end of this month.

9/14/17: Clock.

So it begins. The clock. Starting from scratch, helped by Cole and Gabe. Recently I finished a camera stand for Tim, which was a fair amount of work and taught me a lot. He seemed happy with it but promised to tell me if anything was lacking while he tried it out. I’ll keep you all posted!

8/31/17: Injury!

Today… I cut my thumb with an exact-o knife. It bled a lot. It’s now all wrapped up, and I’ll be ok soon! I’m also presenting to the board today, so wish me luck!

8/28/17: Twitter Analytics 2

Today I finished the document for basic tweeting and how to get the most views and clicks. I will be presenting it to the WISRD Board on Thursday.

8/24/17: Twitter Analytics

Hello! I’m starting some plans for the year, just to make sure I’m not doing nothing. Firstly, I noticed right away that no one had started on the twitter analytics, and looking through past tweets to see what hashtags bring in the most viewers and interactions, and so forth. Seeing as the WISRD page isn’t too widespread, I have my work cut out for me. See you next class!

8/21/17: New Year, New Me

Hi everyone! I promise this year there’s going to be a lot of progress and a lot of posting! Look forward to it all. For this week mostly I plan on joining a new group and helping them out with little things to start, as well as being active on twitter. See you all soon!

3/21/17: Quick Update

Just to give the readers an idea of what I’m working on, I’m currently, remodeling a ticker for a clock, and studying the uses of dopamine and how it works on the human brain. While I’m having a lot of trouble with the ticker, I’m actually really enjoying all of the information I’m gathering from the internet. However, it’s hard to find out which sources are the most reliable, so I’m forced to run background checks or confirm the facts with other websites.

3/14/17: First Posting

Hello everyone, and welcome to my journal. While I might be getting started late in the year due to problems and my own negligence, I’m looking forward to informing whomever about my experiences that I work on in WISRD.
