DAWN

Joe

Overview:

4/27/16 Status update:

The flight system continues to be in good health in its fourth and final mapping orbit at an altitude of 385 km. All instruments are acquiring the planned data. The two reaction wheels are operating nominally and Dawn is stable in hybrid attitude control mode.

Fun fact: In a few days (and before the next fun fact), Dawn will have been in flight for pi x 1000 days.

Recent images continue to be posted daily here on the Dawn website.

Update for March:

Status and near-term plans:

The flight system remains in good health in its fourth and final mapping orbit at an altitude of 385 km. All instruments are operating well and acquiring the planned data. The two reaction wheels are operating nominally and Dawn is stable in hybrid attitude control mode.

Fun fact: About half of the 27,000 images Dawn has acquired of Ceres during the 14 months of Ceres operations were taken since reaching the lowest altitude in December. You can see some of these remarkable views here on the Dawn website
